Honey Grilled Chicken balances sweet, savory, and smoky notes in every bite. The honey–tamari glaze caramelizes beautifully on the grill, giving a crisp golden crust while keeping the meat tender and juicy. A touch of ginger, garlic, and sesame oil adds depth and aroma, finished with sesame seeds and green onions for freshness. Perfect with jasmine rice or grilled vegetables, it is a simple yet flavorful dish ideal for any casual meal or summer barbecue.

Ingredients
(for 2 people)

4 chicken thighs or drumsticks (bone-in or boneless)
3 tbsp honey
2 tbsp tamari sauce (or soy sauce)
1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 garlic clove, minced (optional)
1 tsp grated ginger (optional)
½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, mix honey, tamari sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes.

Marinate the Chicken
Place the chicken cuts in the marinade and coat evenly.
Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the fridge).

Preheat the Grill
Heat the grill to medium heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Grill the Chicken
Place the chicken on the grill and cook for:
6-7 minutes per side for thighs or drumsticks
4-5 minutes per side for breasts (depending on thickness)
Brush with extra marinade during grilling for added flavor.
Cook until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).

Rest and Garnish
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Serving Suggestion
Serve with jasmine rice, grilled vegetables, or a fresh salad.
